Information Management – extra occupational (BIB)

Practical methods and expertise in information work

You have happily arrived in your profession as a FaMI or library assistant and have the feeling that “what more is possible"? Are you resilient and curious about current developments in the information sector and would like to think outside the box? Then you have come to the right place!

Start of the course

Every winter semester, librarians and library assistants with and without A-levels/university entrance qualification are admitted to the Bachelor's degree course in Information Management - extra occupational at the Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Prerequisites

Admission requirements are completed training as a librarian (FaMI), specialising in libraries, followed by three years of relevant professional activity, or completed training as a library assistant, four years of relevant professional activity and additional proof of competences at the level of the FaMI training. FaMIs or library assistants with A-levels/university entrance qualification are admitted without supplementary professional experience.

Admission prerequisites without FaMI training

Applicants with an university entrance qualification for admission to higher education without a completed course of study must provide evidence of four and a half years of qualified work experience.

In the case of a completed course and three years of qualified work in academic and public libraries, additional competences analogous to the

admission requirements

for library assistants must be proven.
