The student ID, or Campus Card, serves multiple purposes. It functions as your library card and can be used for printers, scanners, and copiers. Additionally, you can load up to €70 onto the card and use it as a payment method in Café Seeblick and the cafeterias. The card is also required to participate in the university's sports programs.
Since September 1, 2024, students at the University of Applied Sciences Hanover have access to the Germany Semester Ticket. Further information on activation can be found via the provided Campus Card link.
The student ID must be validated each semester. After the semester fee has been paid, validation can be completed at the validation machines on campus.
The University of Applied Sciences Hanover consists of five faculties and additional organizational units such as departments, central facilities, and staff offices. The main governing bodies of the university are the Presidency, the University Council, and the Senate. Faculty governing bodies include the Dean’s Office and the Faculty Council.
Presidency
The Presidency of the University of Applied Sciences Hanover manages the university independently and makes decisions during its meetings.
Senat
The Senate, alongside the Presidency, is a central self-governing body of the university. Its meetings are held three to four times per semester.
Senate Committees
The University of Applied Sciences Hanover has established several committees and working groups to prepare decisions for the Senate. Student members represent the opinions of the student body for future resolutions.
Faculty Council
Each faculty has a Faculty Council, a decision-making body responsible for faculty-related matters. This includes decisions about the allocation of faculty funds, job postings, curricula, and examination regulations. Of the 13 voting members, two seats are held by students, with a term of one year.
AStA
(General Student Committee)
The AStA represents student interests both internally (within the university) and externally (e.g., negotiations with the Student Services Organization). It addresses university policy issues and collaborates with other university bodies. The AStA also promotes political education and oversees the social and athletic interests of students.
Faculty Student Councils
The Faculty Student Councils (FSR) represent the students of each faculty. They assist with starting studies and contribute to faculty life through regular events and activities.
Study Commissions
The Study Commissions of the Departments of Design and Media, as well as Information and Communication, develop recommendations for study programs, examination regulations, curricula, and study plans. These commissions consist of faculty members and students from the respective departments.
Semester Representatives
Semester representatives are elected for each semester. They act as contact persons and mediators between students and instructors. Their additional responsibilities are determined individually by each degree program.
