Information Management (BIM)

Practical methods and expertise in information work

Information management has the task of ensuring the availability of the production factor information. Information managers provide this service in academic libraries, in internet agencies and in companies in the industrial and service sectors. In the Bachelor's degree course, you will learn the methods and specialised knowledge of information work in a practice-oriented manner. This includes, for example, the construction of databases, electronic publishing and the use of software for researching, preparing and evaluating information. Knowledge of applied computer science and the professional use of modern information technology are also part of your future job profile. Courses on the business management of information institutions and on knowledge management as well as training in communication skills complement your educational content.

The degree course stands for a high degree of practical orientation. Practical exercises complement lectures and seminars. Project work, excursions and lectures by external lecturers from the field ensure a connection to current developments in the industry. The two practical phases are also an important component. These contribute significantly to preparing you for your future professional field of activity and give you a realistic picture of professional reality.
