The wood workshop can be used by any student without special prior knowledge. We will advise you on your plans, provide information on processes and production, and instruct you in the workshops and machines.
Together with you we will make your prototype, your idea, your model. We will provide you with personal protective equipment, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to the workshop management.
We look forward to your questions, projects and ideas.
I advise Monday to Friday, also a telephone consultation or via Zoom is possible. The production / preparation for objects or cuts is also offered during opening hours.
The students of the product design program have courses in the wood workshop in the curriculum, in which they are trained in the production of models. They produce their student projects themselves, with the help of the workshop staff.
In the case of project-related work in the degree programs, it is decided on a case-by-case basis whether instruction on machines is useful or whether the work will be carried out by the workshop management or the student assistants.
After appropriate instruction in the various devices, students can work freely in the bench rooms of the workshop during opening hours. This applies equally to the wood area and the bench room at the metal workshop.
Only students enrolled at the university are permitted to use the workshop. In order to do so, they require a current briefing on the guidelines of operational procedures, occupational safety and health protection for their stay in the woodworking shop. Persons who are not enrolled at the university and students who cannot provide proof of the aforementioned briefings are not permitted to work in the workshop. There is then no insurance coverage.
The use of the individual machines and devices also requires job-related instruction on the respective mode of operation. The use of the machines without these instructions is not permitted. These instructions and briefings are documented and confirmed with signatures.
