Project: Student Ambassadors at Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts
The Student Ambassadors (Stubos for short) at Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts’ Advisory Services facilitate peer-to-peer engagement with prospective students in schools, at education fairs, at the university’s own events and via social media. They share first-hand accounts of their studies and pass on information drawn from their own experiences. The aim is to provide low-threshold access to higher education and to reduce inhibitions about contacting Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
- Workshops: The Stubos design their own workshop formats on studying at HsH and run them in all types of schools (from Year 11 onwards), with or without the support of professional members of the Student Advisory Service.
- Visits to education fairs: The Stubos attend education fairs and provide support at other (school) events.
- First point of contact: The Stubos act as the first point of contact for pupils and teachers, addressing their concerns and, where necessary, referring enquiries to the relevant academic advisory service or the Student Advisory Service.
- Social media presence: The Stubos showcase study opportunities, pathways to higher education and their own study experiences via social media, acting as role models in the process.
- Encouragement: The Stubos encourage prospective students from diverse backgrounds to take up a degree and, among other things, empower women to undertake a Master’s degree.
The Student Ambassador project aims to create a peer-to-peer initiative based on accessibility and social connection.
