Enrolment

Students who have been accepted for an exchange semester at Hochschule Hannover are required to complete the enrolment process.

Detailed information about enrolment will be provided by the Incoming Team via email to all accepted students.

It is essential to complete enrolment on time in order to receive your enrolment certificate and student ID card (CampusCard) upon arrival. Enrolment is also required for your programme of study to register you for the courses you have selected for your exchange, for example as part of your Learning Agreement.

To complete enrolment, you must provide the following:

  • Proof of sufficient health insurance, e.g. a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or confirmation from a German health insurance provider
  • Proof of payment of the semester contribution ("Semesterbeitrag")

Health Insurance

In order to enrol (register at the university), you must have valid health insurance.

Below you will find links to several German statutory health insurance providers. Where available, we have included links to their dedicated student information pages. On these websites, you may also find details about local offices and contact persons (e.g. University Advisors) Hannover:

All students are required to provide proof of health insurance that is recognised in Germany. You must contact a German statutory health insurance provider in good time so that they can send an electronic notification of your insurance status (M10) directly to the university.

  • Exchange students participating in ERASMUS+
Even if you hold a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you are still required to contact a German statutory health insurance provider. They must confirm your insurance status and arrange for the M10 notification to be sent to the university.
  • Exchange students from other programmes
If you are participating in an exchange programme outside of ERASMUS+, you will generally need to obtain German statutory health insurance. Once your insurance has been arranged, your provider will automatically send the M10 notification to the university.

The health insurance provider will either confirm that your existing insurance is valid in Germany or, if your insurance from your home country is not sufficient, assist you in arranging appropriate coverage.
