If your home country is outside the EU, the German Embassy usually demands a proof of financing before issuing any VISA. In order to proof that you can finance your studies an amount of 934€ per month is required.

In case you should need to apply for residence permit or need to extend your VISA you will have to arrange an appointment with the Immigartion Office of the city of Hannover. Appointments are usually booked up quickly. Therefore please do check entry regulations and VISA requirements carefully and book your appointment, if needed, well in advance.

Sufficient health insurance is mandatory in Germany and is an essential prerequisite for your stay. A proof of sufficient coverage must be provided when applying for VISA and/or in order to enrol at Hochschule Hannover. Therefore please read the following information carefully and make sure that your health insurance provides sufficient coverage:

Please do also consider a liability insurance.

There will be no enrolment without proof of sufficient health coverage. In order to enrol at Hochschule Hannover a digital insurance notification is needed (M10). You will have to apply for a digital insurance notification at a German statutory health insurance company. Please contact a health insurance company and ask for the notification needed.

The health insurance company then contacts Hochschule Hannover directly and informs about your insurance status.

Studentenwerk Hannover

Student dormitories are managed by the Studentenwerk Hannover. Rooms there are only available for degree-seeking students, enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree study program at a university in Hannover. We do support incoming exchange students in finding accommodation. Unfortunately Hochschule Hannover can only provide a limited number of rooms at different student dormitories in the city of Hannover. Incoming exchange students interested in accommodation at a student dormitory must apply for a room through the Incoming Team.

All students are asked to pay the semester fee. Please note that this is not a tuition fee! It is a contribution covering administration and other student services. It finances numerous facilities of the student service organisation „Studentenwerk“, such as canteens, student dormitories, day care centers as well as the student union (AStA). It also includes the cost of the semester ticket.

Citizens moving to Hannover, EU citizens as well as non-EU citizens, have to register at the Citizen Office of the city of Hannover. Please make sure to:

• Register within 2 weeks after your arrival in Hannover
• Bring along your passport, and the document "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung“, a confirmation of your landlord that you have moved into the apartment and have signed an rental contract
• Schedule an appointment online with the citizen office

All students enroled at Hochschule Hannover receive a student account and an email address. With this account IT services such as WIFI (eduroam), the learning platform moodle are available as well as access to PC’s and printers on campus can be. Individual user names and passwords will be issued by the IT Service Department. Information concerning courses, exams and events during the semester will be sent to your student email address. Therefore please do make sure to check your emails.

At the end of your stay the faculty will issue a Transcript of Records stating the courses you completed during your stay and the ECTS you achieved.
