Faculty I is an organisational unit of the Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences and Arts. It was formed in the summer semester of 2007 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the specialist subject field of “Technical Writing” at the HsH. With its 14 specialist subject fields, the faculty represents important key technologies across the entire spectrum of electrical engineering, starting with the topics of energy supply and renewable energies, through electromobility and drive technology, high and very high frequency technology, sensor technology, battery technologies and lighting and medical technology, to Industry 4.0: Industrial IT, communication networks and automation technology.

Faculty I - Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offers a wide range of engineering and scientific degree courses. In the Bachelor's degree courses leading to professional qualification and in the consecutive Master's degree courses, the teaching is characterised by a high academic and scientific level, by a high level of practical relevance in the form of laboratories and projects, and by a personal supervisory atmosphere. The professionally qualifying Bachelor's degree courses offer a sound scientific and information technology basis and, in addition, a wide range of opportunities for individual subject specialisation and internationalisation.
Faculty I - Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is a competent contact point in the region for any queries related to electrical engineering and information technology. We actively seek contact with companies in the region, e.g. by supervising practical semesters and theses, and we are open to questions that come to us from this environment. We successfully carry out research and development projects with companies in the Hanover Region
Faculty I - Electrical Engineering and Information Technology conducts high-level application-oriented research and development in the entire spectrum of electrical engineering and information technology, in socially relevant subject areas, from energy engineering, electromobility, medical and lighting technology to security in communication technology. The results and findings of research and development are used for the continuous professional development of academic teaching.
Faculty I - Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has collaborations with international partner universities. With our dual degree courses, courses in English, exchange of lecturers and the close supervision and cultural as well as language training of "incoming" and "outgoing" students, our very high level of commitment in this area is characterised.
